“Sloughwitched” Behind the Scenes
🌿🧙♀️ BEHIND THE MAGIC OF SLOUGHWITCHED! 🌙🐊
A sold-out event like Sloughwitched doesn't happen by magic… although, after seeing what our amazing team accomplished, we might have to reconsider! ✨
Behind every spooky encounter, mysterious shadow, and witch lurking along the boardwalk was an incredible amount of planning, creativity, teamwork, and countless volunteer hours.
Nearly 60 volunteers came together to bring this first-ever event to life! From scriptwriting and acting to guiding and sweeping groups along the boardwalk, every role was essential. Our volunteers took on everything from decoration design, mask making, prop design (zip lines), crafts, check-in, and greeting guests to tarot reading, makeup, costume design, and sewing costumes. Others worked on setup and cleanup, press releases, and media reporting to help spread the word about our magical adventure. Plus many attended an acting class and participated in dress rehearsal.
We were also delighted to have FGCU theater students join our cast and contribute their talents to the experience! 🎭
Behind the scenes, there were countless details to coordinate, props to prepare, costumes to create, characters to bring to life, and logistics to work out. It truly took a village — or perhaps a coven! 🧙♀️
A very special THANK YOU to every volunteer who shared their time, talents, creativity, and enthusiasm. Whether you were in the spotlight, behind the scenes, or helping make sure everything ran smoothly, you helped make Sloughwitched a memorable experience for our guests.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire Six Mile Cypress Slough staff for their invaluable support, cooperation, and help throughout the process. We couldn't have done it without you! 💚
And, of course, thank you to everyone who purchased tickets, joined us on the boardwalk, and embraced the magic. Selling out our very first event was exciting, and we know many others were disappointed not to get tickets. Your enthusiasm means the world to us!
Sloughwitched was much more than a Halloween event. It was a wonderful demonstration of what a dedicated community can accomplish when people come together around a shared love of the Slough.
Sixty volunteers, one incredible team, and a little Slough magic! 🌿✨
Thank you for helping us protect the magic of Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve! 🧙♀️🐊💚
