In 2010, Carolyn planted the seed for what has become one of the preserve’s most beloved traditions — our annual photography contest. What began as her vision continues to thrive, bringing our community together to celebrate the beauty of the place she loved so deeply.

Her energy was boundless, and her love for the preserve was humongous and contagious. As President of the Friends organization for seven years — the longest presidency in its history — she led with heart, strength, and dedication.

The photography contest proudly honors her — a fitting tribute to the woman who helped us all see the preserve through a more appreciative lens.

Below are the winners of the photo contest for 2024. These images were judged within the categories of Animals, Plants and Landscapes, Birds, Youth and Staff. Some honorable mentions were chosen in some of the categories.
